Diane Farrer
Trustee
Di retired several years ago, having spent her whole career in Education, initially as a PE teacher and more recently as a Head Teacher of a Pupil Referral Unit. She is still involved in education as the Chair of a Governing body at a Local Primary school. Having retired from a paid job, she now volunteers at an Eco Market where waste food is collected from supermarkets and given it to the needy. She is also involved in a project making survival sheets for the homeless out of used crisp packets!
She has many roles in Girlguiding and is a Unit Leader and trainer for NEE. She has just finished her term of office as County Commissioner in Durham South . As Commissioner, she was on the board of Trustees for a short period of time.
She has been an active member of Girlguiding since the age of 10, belonging to one of the few Air Ranger units in the country, many years ago. This enabled her to take part in flying and gliding adventures- which was certainly an experience.
Di has retained her love of the outdoors and adventures, and feels strongly that today's girls should experience adventure and the outdoors in a safe, caring environment. Di can't wait for Waddow to be back doing what it does best and will be 'doing HER best' to get there !
