Lynn Smith
Trustee
Lynn is a retired local government officer who worked in Adult Social Care for 27 years. She also served for many years as a local magistrate and volunteered as an advocate for Marie Curie Cancer Charity.
Born in South Shields, Lynn was introduced to Girlguiding at the age of four and went on to gain her Queen’s Guide Award at 16. She has held a wide range of roles and completed 59 years of service as a Girlguiding Leader.
She is currently Booking Secretary on the Management Committee of her local campsite and has a lifelong connection with Waddow. She served on the Waddow Management Group and was the final Chair of Friends of Waddow.
When Girlguiding announced in May 2023 that it proposed to close Waddow, Lynn immediately began looking for a way to preserve its valuable legacy for generations of Guide members, schools, youth groups and the wider community. She is fully committed to developing Waddow Hall Trust for today’s young people and future generations.
